Abstract Background Different surgical methods have been suggested for the correction of intermittent exotropia. Unilateral lateral rectus recession has described as a alternative small and moderate-angle In general, previous studies did not focus on outcomes unilateral in young children with The purpose this study is to evaluate treatment exotropia (? 25 PD (prism diopters)) children. Long-term postoperative outcomes of bilateral lateral rectus recession vs unilateral recession-resection for intermittent exotropia.

AIM To discuss the long-term postoperative results of bilateral lateral rectus recession (BLR) and unilateral lateral rectus recession-medial rectus resection (RR) in therapy of intermittent exotropia. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 213 cases of intermittent exotropia who underwent surgery between 2008 and 2010. The patients were grouped into BLR group and RR group. Motor outcomes were d...

Two years results of unilateral lateral rectus recession on moderate intermittent exotropia

BACKGROUND: This survey was performed to determine the effect of unilateral lateral rectus recession in treatment of moderate angle intermittent exotropia. However, this type of operation and its long term results in patients with moderate angle exotropia have not yet been studied in Iran. METHODS: Forty patients with basic type intermittent exotropia with moderate angle deviation (25-30∆D) wer...

Correlation between the Limbus-Insertion Distance of the Lateral Rectus Muscle and Lateral Rectus Recession Surgery in Intermittent Exotropia

The aim of this study was to investigate whether the limbus-insertion distance (LID) of the lateral rectus (LR) muscle can be a useful indicator for predicting the surgical effect of recession surgery in intermittent exotropia (IXT). Patients who underwent unilateral or bilateral LR recession for the basic type of IXT were included. The distance between the corneal limbus and the posterior edge...

Long-term Surgical Outcomes of Augmented Bilateral Lateral Rectus Recession in Children With Intermittent Exotropia.

PURPOSE To compare the long-term surgical outcomes of augmented bilateral lateral rectus (LR) recession with original surgery. DESIGN Retrospective, nonrandomized clinical study. METHODS A total of 447 children with ≤35 prism diopters (PD) of basic and divergence excess-type intermittent exotropia, who underwent original bilateral LR recession based on the largest angle measured at distance...

Long-term outcomes of unilateral lateral rectus recession versus recess-resect for intermittent exotropia of 20-25 prism diopters

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to compare surgical outcomes of unilateral lateral rectus recession (ULR) and unilateral recess-resect (RR) for intermittent exotropia of 20-25 prism diopters (PD). METHODS In this retrospective study, ULR was performed on 82 patients and RR on 98 patients for the treatment of intermittent exotropia of 20-25 PD with a follow-up period of 24 months or m...
